At Athena we take the view that our officers are professional people who are licensed and regulated by law. As such we treat them as professionals and we hope our clients and their staff will adopt the same attitude. Gone are the days of ‘night watchmen’ & ‘Security Guards’ who were paid just to provide a human presence.
As a Licensed Security Officer, our staff have undertaken criminal record checks and approved training as defined by the Security Industry Authority. They have further been subjected to our company vetting procedures with conforms to BS7858; this includes a 5 year work history check and a credit check.
We believe that Athena is only as good as its weakest member of staff, and we place a great importance on recruiting and retaining the right individuals. Our managers and supervisors all work as a team to help support all staff during their duty shift.We offer further training to all officers and regularly undertake staff appraisals and encourage personal and professional development.
Some training we require to be mandatory in nature and therefore ensure all officers have completed First Aid and Customer Service NVQ’s within 6 months of their employment with us.
Officer welfare is one of our main priorities as a business. We do not charge our employees for their uniform, neither do we operate a 'fines' system. Welfare visits are undertaken once a week as a minimum standard and full records are kept and made available to clients. We utilise the Active Guard System to monitor the activity and welfare of all officers whilst on duty, this contains a system of requesting immediate assistance or advice.
